One millions patients to receive free nutritional consultation

Cho Ray hospital and Vinamilk recently signed a strategic cooperation agreement for the project "Nutritional consultation for one million patients in 3 years 2016-2018” .

Patients at Cho Ray hospital will receive consultation on the importance of nutrition during treatment procedure. The project contributes to improving nutritional conditions and treatment quality for patients, and enhancing clinical nutritional therapy knowledge for health workers at the hospital.



Representatives from Vinamilk and Cho Ray hospital are signing the strategic cooperation agreement for 2016-2018 period.
Vinamilk also launches the special nutrition product Vinamilk Sure Prevent for adults with decreased appetite and patients who needs recovery that meets the needs of Plant Sterol and Glucoraphanin as per recommendations from FDA (U.S).

According to Dr. Luu Ngan Tam, Head of Cho Ray hospital’s nutrition and dietetics ward, currently the hospital has over 4000 outpatients and 2300 inpatients everyday. Inpatients often can’t afford to pay for nutritious meals themselves, which leads to a high rate of malnutrition among inpatients over time.

"It is estimated that about 40-50 percent of the hospital’s patients are malnourished, of which 50% are severely malnourished. Nutrition intervention is expected to help doctors estimate results in treatment and suggest proper nutrition for each patient in order to decrease frequency of side effect.It also helps patients increase their ability to recover, reduce treatment time and costs”, Dr. Tam emphasizes.



The hospital has been offering daily meals for more than 2100 inpatients, of which 90% receive meals based on their conditions.Patients from Pneumology, Endocrinology, Nephrology departments and such receive annual free nutrional consultation.

Director of Cho Ray hospital,Prof. Nguyen Truong Son highly evaluated the significance of the project, stating that such cooperation with Vianamik could benefit patients practically as well as increasing the awareness of patients and health officials of the importance of nutrition in treatment.




Vinamilk Marketing Operational Director Phan Minh Tien expressed the company’s interest in cooperating with the hospital in particular, and the health sector at large in improving the nutrition and health conditions of patients, as well as the community as a whole.
Vinamilk and Cho Ray will join hands to work on the project’s three major goals: providing nutritional consultation for one million inpatients and outpatients, nutritional training for 600 hospital staff ,research and development on specific nutritional products for patients.
